THE BEEHIVE AT THE EDWARD L. COOPER COMMUNITY GARDEN

In 2015 Leonard Lee, an Urban Beekeeper, donated a beehive to the Cooper Center. The Cooper Center gardens are used to teach pollination of the plantings so that they will grow and thrive. Bees are an essential part of the ecosystem, and beekeeping.

Demonstrations and classes will be provided as often as weather and interests permit.

The hive is always available for viewing. For safety please stay 15 to 20 feet away from the hive. The “worker” bees are quite busy helping pollinate the gardens. When you see bees “working” in the garden please take some time to enjoy one of natures’ wonders as they actively collect the nectar from the flowers and return to the hive.

For more information leave a message for Leonard Lee at 617-942-8319.
